Why is the check done?
Proven identity is a basic requirement for citizenship. At the visit the document's authenticity, whether the photo matches and whether the information matches your application are checked. Entry and exit stamps may also be reviewed to verify residence time.
What should I bring?
The summons letter, passport or identity document in original (also older and expired passports if you still have them) and residence permit card if you have one.
After the check
Sometimes Migrationsverket keeps the passport for a time for technical examination – you then receive a receipt. If you need to travel you can request temporary release of the passport.

Your passport expired before the visit
Bring the expired passport and contact Migrationsverket in advance. In some cases you need to renew the passport at your home country's embassy first.
You cannot come at the booked time
Reschedule in good time via the contact details in the summons. Failure to attend can considerably delay the case.

Yes. If Migrationsverket keeps it for a time you receive a receipt and can request it when needed.
