- 5Consider whether you have documents that can clarify open questions – you can always submit additional material.

Does the letter mean something is wrong with my application?
Not necessarily. It means the case officer needs more material to make a correct decision. It is common in cases where identity or residence time needs clarification.
How long does the extra investigation take?
It varies from weeks to several months depending on what is investigated. After six months total processing time you can request that the case be decided.
Can I speed up the investigation?
You can voluntarily submit documents that address what is being investigated – clearly marked with your case number. That can shorten the time.
