What does a request for additional documents mean?
A request for additional documents means Migrationsverket needs more information or documents to decide your case. It is not a decision – but your response is important for the outcome.
Why do you receive the letter?
Common reasons are a missing attachment, identity needing further proof, incomplete information on support or residence time, or something unclear in the application.
What should I do?
Submit exactly what is requested, within the stated time, marked with your case number. It is better to send too much documentation than too little, and attach a short cover letter explaining what you are sending.
What happens if I do not respond?
Migrationsverket will then decide the case on existing material, which often leads to refusal. Therefore always respond – even if you cannot obtain all documents, explain why.
Always check current rules with Migrationsverket as rules may change.
