Brev från Migrationsverket – vad betyder de?
Have you received a letter in your citizenship case? Here we explain what the most common letters mean and what you need to do.
- Begäran om kompletteringMigrationsverket needs more information or documents to decide your case. No decision has been made yet.
- Kallelse till MigrationsverketYou are summoned to a personal visit – often for identity verification, passport inspection or an investigation interview.
- Passvisning (passkontroll)You must present your passport or other identity document in original so Migrationsverket can verify identity and travels.
- Beslut om medborgarskap (bifall)Congratulations – you have been granted Swedish citizenship. The letter is your proof and applies from the date of the decision.
- Avslag på ansökanYour application has been refused. You can appeal within three weeks – or apply again when you meet the requirements.
- Begäran att avgöra ärende (svar)You have requested that Migrationsverket decide your case – or received a decision on such a request. This is how the process works.
- Identitetskontroll / identitetsutredningMigrationsverket considers that your identity is not sufficiently proven and wants more supporting documents.
- Ytterligare utredning behövsMigrationsverket informs you that your case requires further investigation before a decision can be made. Action is not always required – but read the letter carefully.
